Forthcoming Events Thursday, 1st December 2011 – 8:00 pm: Ratskeller "Traditional Christmas Make and Bake Sale & Raffle" All the proceeds of the sale and raffle go into the Club funds to help subsidize the various organised events. Please be sure to bring along something for us to sell. Homemade mince pies, biscuits, preserves, decorations, etc. are always popular but if you’re not into "making and baking", shop-bought goodies are just as welcome. The star prize in the raffle will be a bottle of Remy Martin. Saturday, 10th December 2011 – from 6:00 pm: "Christmas Dinner at the Restaurant Adler in Büchenbronn" Our Christmas Dinner is one of the Club highlights. We have exclusive use of the large, comfortable side room at the Adler, which provides lots of space for our carol singing and other entertainment. The evening starts at 6:00 pm with carol singing, followed by the aperitif at about 6:45 pm and then the dinner. The meal will consist of a choice of soup or salad, followed by turkey with all the trimmings and finishing off with dessert and, of course, Christmas pudding and mince pies with brandy butter. We always enjoy very good food and service at the Adler and at a price of €22 per person for members and €28 for guests it is excellent value for money. The Adler is easy to get to and has plenty of space to park. We have to provide our own entertainment and will be most grateful to anyone who can contribute. It can be poems, stories or sketches (in English or German). Musical contributions are always appreciated and there is even enough room for dancing if anyone is feeling really adventurous! If you would like to join us at the Adler on 10th December and have not yet put your name on the list please phone Pat Rouse: 07235 – 457. The December meeting may be too late, as the Adler needs a couple of weeks notice, so that the fresh turkeys can be ordered. Thursday, 5th January 2012 – 8:00 pm: Ratskeller "Social Evening" As usual in January we have no program planned but it is always enjoyable to get together for a relaxed evening after the Christmas and New Year festivities. Dates for your Diary Thursday, 2nd February – 8:00 pm: Ratskeller "A Talk by Maurice Claypole" Maurice has once again volunteered to talk to us. The subject will be Maurice's Music Hall Memories A trip down memory lane to the Good Old Days of live entertainment featuring songs, sketches and comedy from the great performers of a bygone era. You won’t want to miss this one. Sunday, 12th February 2012 – 5:00 pm: Börth Halle "Nine-Pin Bowling" As this was so much fun, we decided to do it again next year. The booking will not be confirmed until early in the New Year, but we don’t anticipate any changes. This year we have a new trophy: the Charly Eberle challenge trophy which was kindly donated by Karl-Heinz Eberle and will be keenly fought over by our bowling members. Win the trophy and you can keep it until next year when we shall want it back to award to the next victor.
